Welcoming graduate students Kasper and Jasper

Mariska Huis

At Stage Gate 11 we are curious and go for the fine details of the topics we come across on the daily basis. This is where young talents step in, us in return offering a podium for them to further develop their professional skills within the context of research. In the past we have worked together with students from different universities across the country. This semester we have two very motivated students joining us to further develop the Delta R Shoe Scanner.

Welcoming graduate students Kasper and Jasper

Kasper Wendel

The newest member to our team is Kasper Wendel, who will do research on the classification algorithm used by the Delta R technology with a focus on interpretation.

Kasper is currently studying Data Science & Technology at Delft University of Technology. As a final step before graduation, a project of 9 months must be completed with either a company or the university. With an interest in Deep Learning and data visualisation, Kasper’s chose the topic of interpretation and explainability for complex Deep Learning algorithms. An interesting topic, as more and more data is captured nowadays were highly complex models can be learned on these datasets. However, explaining how algorithms take decisions is an interesting point, and can lead to deeper insight on the underlying wealth available from the data.

Kasper is eager to learn more about the Delta R technology and motivated to apply his knowledge to help SG11 and improve our technology.

Jasper Rothert

To be fair, Jasper Rothert is no stranger to us. Initially Jasper joined Stage Gate 11 for his first internship as part of the study Forensic Sciences at Saxion University of Applied Sciences. Part of the education is to acquire the knowledge and skills to become a researcher in the forensic field.

Assisting the further development of the Delta R Shoe Scanner, Jasper did an excellent job. Moreover, his internship at SG11 led to the discovery of his passion for the development of new technology in forensic context, just like the Delta R. For this reason, Jasper is motivated to continue with his contribution to the Delta R project for the upcoming five months.

His thesis assignment covers research on contamination of surfaces by target material.

Without a doubt we are curious to learn about both their discoveries within the differentiating topics and can barely wait to see the findings from their projects. We are always open to discuss internship possibilities. Do not hesitate to get in touch if you think you can contribute to one or more of our running projects, or if you think you see new opportunities.
